ScholarSeed is a free, single-purpose tool: it generates fictional professor names for creative work.

What it does

The generator assembles professor identities from curated name pools — first and last names in classic, modern or whimsical-fantasy styles — with academic titles (Professor, Dr.) and departments. Everything runs in your browser with no sign-up and no server.

What it does not do

It does not create real academics, verify anything, or check name collisions. The names are fictional combinations for stories, games, roleplay and teaching materials — never for presenting anyone as a real authority.

Why it exists

Populating a fictional university one name at a time is slow, repetitive work that interrupts writing. A fast, private generator removes the interruption: generate a roster, pick the names that fit, and get back to the story.

Honest limits

Generated names are random combinations and may coincidentally resemble real academics' names. They must not be used for fake credentials, fabricated quotes or impersonation. See the FAQ for the full picture.
